World Poetry Day

In preparation for Poetry Month coming in eleven days, and my plan to add 150 poems to my blog for Canada's 150th birthday, Here's my selection for World Poetry Day.

Reasons for Melancholy

fear, the mighty two-edged sword,
plunges through

absolute caution, creates a stranger
within, completely ill at ease.

spiritless ashes, remains of a life
lost by the roadside,

fill a pit to the brim with
complete insecurity.

I want to recount a story;
will you listen or turn

and walk away, unsympathetic as
rain? Alas, rejection ~ what I fear most;

to never experience the indescribable
high of hello.
